Our company name comes from the uninhabited Rasa Island in the southern seas, where our founder TSUNETO Noritaka and others discovered phosphate ore, a raw material of fertilizer, in the late Meiji era. After being founded in 1913 as a phosphate ore mining and processing company, our company engaged in the development of phosphorus fertilizer to promote rural development, and today we are a comprehensive manufacturer comprising the three divisions of Chemicals, Machinery, and Electronic Materials that supports urban development and lifestyles.
 We have responded to changes in the social environment throughout our long history by ambitiously innovating business models, including in our key fields of fertilizers, metal mining, smelting, and silicon wafer reclaim. We have been building upon every experience as our energy to the future.
 Currently our core business today is the Chemicals Division. In addition to phosphoric acid, over a century, we boast extensive experience in high-purity phosphoric acid for semiconductors and liquid crystals industries which are indispensable to information-oriented society. We will continue to harness our amassed expertise in phosphor as a core technology and further evolve our technology into a high value added and specialty business to tap new fields.
 In our Electronic Materials Division, we will further promote the recycling of rare metals; in our Machinery Division, we have entered the biomass field with the aim of manifesting a recycling-oriented society.
